Features
- Safe-charging design to protect against overheating, under/over voltage charging, short circuiting, overloading, and overcharging
- Can power high-electric items
- Durable metal housing
Overall, the device is highly versatile and perfect for road trips with its size making it a perfect travel buddy. The price is also quite surprising for the quality you receive.
This inverter offers four 2.4V USB ports tightly clustered and two US AC outlets on the main face to prevent cord interference. You can easily charge multiple devices with the USB ports alone and can plug other devices into the electrical outlets. Just plug it into the cigarette lighter in your car.
Do not exceed the power rating with the devices you use, but even then, the safety features are comforting. It has built-in features for overheating, using too much voltage, not enough voltage and short-circuiting.
The Foval 200W has looks to match its high functionality. It is about the size of a deck of cards but has a good weight to it and a metal case to increase durability. The case itself has nice, smooth lines instead of sharp corners that give it a more modern look.
PROS
- Great design: smooth lines and aesthetics.
- Outlet placement with a high number of USB outlets.
- Excellent value for money.
CONS
- Gets warm as you charge
Specification

Features
- Low voltage protection, over voltage protection; red LED to signal self-protection function
The BMK 200W is a good purchase for the money you spend. Its rounded edges give it a modern look, and they will not poke at you like other models. The size makes it fit into a pocket or bag when you are on the move, for instance, on a business trip.
It has an interesting LCD display screen that lets you see the current in real-time. It also has a simple system to tell you whether you have too much stuff plugged in at once – green means “OK” while red means “STOP.” Use a bit of common sense and keep an eye on the amount of power flowing through the device – 6.2A maximum for the USB ports.
Some other features include excellent placement for the four USB ports and the 2 AC outlets; using one won’t block the other. The cord is nearly two feet long, so it has a lot of reach when it’s not all bundled up nicely. The fan runs pretty quietly and speeds up as you use more power but still does not make much noise.
PROS
- LCD display shows the electrical current.
- Multiple USB ports.
- Quiet fan.
CONS
- Inconsistent charging speed.

Features
- Auto-shutdown to protect car and appliance
- Not designed for high power electric devices like hair dryer
- Cigarette lighter adapter provides total power up to 150W; device can power multiple loads and major household appliances; 24-in power cord
This inverter, no surprise, is meant to fit into any cupholder your vehicle may have, which is one excellent way of preventing the device from sliding around. It is compact and has a protective cover so that all the ports are safe from anything that might find its way inside.
It only has two USB ports compared to the previous two devices. However, there is an option to add an extra two ports with a cigarette lighter adapter for up to 150W. Though, with all of these devices with multiple ports, make sure you do not exceed their recommended power.
The outlet placement will cause some potential problems depending on the electrical plug you are using. Plugging into the 3-prong AC outlet may block access to the USB ports on the device and vice versa. Though, in the product’s defense, this is so that the protective covering/cap can cover all of the ports and protect debris from entering when the device is not in use.
PROS
- Multiple USB ports.
- Convenient shape to fit securely in most vehicles.
- 24-inch power cord lets you put it virtually anywhere.
- Automatically shuts down to protect your appliance and car.
CONS
- AC outlet placement will potentially block USB port(s).
- Costs slightly more than others on our list but comes with additional add-ons.
Specification
Power | 200W |

Cooling fan | Yes |
Features
- Metal housing protects it from drops and bumps.
- Protection against overheating, under and over voltage charging, short circuiting, overloading, overcharging, and dropping
This is one of the bulkiest devices in our review, but it does offer safety features for overheating, under/over voltage charging and short-circuiting. It also has a protective metal case to keep it safe from drops and bumps. One noteworthy feature is that there are also screw mounts to permanently mount the inverter to a location if you wish.
The 200W in the description is for continuous usage; this inverter actually peaks at 400W to allow you to run other devices. The device also uses modified sine waves, which concerns some people when using it to power their computers. Modified sine waves do not affect virtually all properly-built, modern computers. In short, you’re good if you have a good computer.
The E-LION 200W may not fit certain electrical plugs depending on how your electrical cord feeds out from the plug due to the metal flanges used for mounting. There is also just one USB port, which is fine if you are mainly looking for a device with AC outlets.
PROS
- Peak of 400W.
- Can permanently mount this inverter with screws
CONS
- Forgetting to switch off can quickly drain a battery.
- AC outlet placement does not work for certain plugs.
Specification

Features
- Anti-surge (600V surges)
- Low voltage alarm, low voltage shutdown, temperature protection, cooling fan, reverse polarity protection, and replaceable fuse; 3X the continuous rating for high surging appliances
The Wagan EL2600 is more expensive than the other inverters on our list for a reason; it utilizes pure sine wave AC power. You can now run medical equipment and HDTVs without fear of damaging your appliances. You can run other appliances on it also as long as it is within the 200W range.
You will not have the multiple USB ports that the other inverters offer, but this device still offers one 2.1A USB port for you to use. The power (pun intended) from the Wagan EL2600 is that it allows you to run a medium LCD TV, a laptop (<100W) and even portable video game systems. And you can still use it to charge your other electronic devices.
Some of the safety designs include low voltage alarm, high voltage shutdown, low voltage shutdown, protection from heat, a cooling fan and reverse polarity protection. It also has a replaceable fuse in case it blows through the one it has as a failsafe.
PROS
- Gives 200W of continuous pure sine wave AC power.
- Can run sensitive electrical equipment.
CONS
- More expensive.
- Reported output is less than 200W.
How fast can an inverter drain a battery?
In short, it depends. A battery should run the device for 3-60 minutes if the car is off, but this also depends on the battery’s age and quality. You must also ask yourself what demand the running device puts on the battery. The more energy you need, the faster the battery will drain.
What will a 200W power inverter run?
The 200W means the inverter will provide you with 200W of continuous power. This should be more than sufficient for laptops, cell phones, GPS units, video game consoles and small appliances like blenders, small TVs and DVD players. Do not try to run devices that require a large amount of power like electrical heaters, curling irons and hair dryers.
Read how much energy the devices you want to run require and make sure the total does not exceed 200W.
Final Thoughts
For most, the Foval 200W Car Power Inverter meets the everyday needs of those who need several small electronic devices and a laptop fully charged and ready. It offers some of the best features for a highly affordable price and will not take up about as much space as another cell phone.
However, as previously stated, you need to decide what your needs are before choosing an inverter. Do you need more USB ports, or perhaps you need pure sine wave AC outlets for more sensitive instruments? How important is portability? If it is OK to fix it in place, size matters less.
